Kay Beisse - Chair

Kay spent 25 years as a practicing school psychologist in K-12 public schools and 15 years as a faculty member in Seattle University’s School Psychology program. During her career, she developed curricula and programs in support of effective family-school collaboration. She delivered strength-based consultation to programs serving students with disabilities, youth in foster care, and families with young adolescents. During retirement, Kay has kept busy with volunteer activities, RV excursions, and international travel. She delights in family gatherings, and loves to watch her four great-grandchildren grow and thrive. 


Jill McKinstry - Secretary/Treasurer

Jill McKinstry is Librarian Emeritus of the University of Washington (UW) and former director of the Odegaard Undergraduate Library and a passionate advocate for libraries and partnerships within the campus and community. Jill was a member of the Board of Trustees for University Book Store (2008-2014) and received the University of Washington David B. Thorud Leadership Award in 2009. Jill and her husband, Joseph, established an endowment to provide financial assistance to graduate students from underrepresented populations pursuing a Master of Library and Information Science in the UW Information School: McKinstry Libraries Fellowship in 2001.  Jill recently served a three-year term on the University of Washington Retirement Association Board of Directors and was President from 2017-2018. Jill currently serves on the UW Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Advisory Board.


Yvonne Banks - At-large

Yvonne is originally from San Francisco, CA and earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1987 she has owned Art Consulting Services in Seattle, WA. Her work has been published in Seattle Magazine, American Ceramics and Seattle Homes and Lifestyles. Yvonne is passionate about community service and has served as President of the Seattle Women’s Commission, Vice President of the YWCA Board of Directors. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Seward Park Art Studio, Northwest Women’s Law Center and the Central Seattle Community College Foundation.


Margaret Heldring - At-large

Margaret Heldring PhD, is the president of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence. A retired clinical psychologist, she has served as clinical faculty in the UW Department of Family Medicine, as health care legislative assistant to former U.S. Senators Bill Bradley and Paul Wellstone, as a senior policy advisor on Bill Bradley’s presidential campaign, and as the founder and Executive Director of the national nonprofit, America’s HealthTogether. She delights in being a thriving grandmother.

Brenetta Ward - At-Large

In 2014, Brenetta Ward left a career in the non-profit sector to launch Professional Learning Solutions LLC, a consulting firm providing customized learning experiences for emerging leaders of color. She is the mother of one daughter and one son and the Nana of two amazing granddaughters. Brenetta holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington and a Certificate in Fiber Arts. She also volunteers with Coyote Central, Rainier Scholars and Social Justice Fund NW. When she is not spending time with family, she enjoys creating quilts and fiber art and being part of the Seattle Arts community.
